I met John in the spring of 1996. After an unsuccessful attempt at selling
my home thru another agent, my supervisor and close friend Shirley recommended
I call the agent who sold her home. That agent was John Berger.
John came over early one evening with laptop in hand. He took the time
to explain the various marketing methods he would employ to advertise
my home for sale. I remember during his presentation that evening, my
Siamese cat "Frankie" seemed fascinated with this stranger and
his gadgets. I entrusted the sale of my home to John and he immediately
went to work.
In a short period of time, I was signing a contract and closing on my
home. All John had to do now was to find me that special home in the school
district I wanted for my two children. Again, John went to work diligently
searching the area for new listings. I received a call that a home had
just come on the market within walking distance to the school. John said
it would be perfect for me plus there was a fenced backyard big enough
for my Boxers Otto & Lillie.
The home inspector John recommended was great and several significant
repairs and allowances were negotiated into the purchase agreement. In
addition, the loan officer and settlement agent John referred me to provided
exceptional service. Everything went
smoothly to closing.
This story might appear to be just another testimonial to John's professionalism
but I was so impressed with John that I married him. Little did he know
the home he suggested I buy because it was a good investment, would be
the home he would eventually come to live in himself.
We were married on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Sherwood Forest Plantation
in Charles City, Virginia. We had a very private ceremony with our children
April, Max, Christina and Charles in attendance. I almost forgot
there was one more addition to our family
John's cat "Butch".
